Victoria’s Jubilees became excuses to buy a new breadboard, such as this well-carved one with the Rose, Thistle and Shamrock. This example can also be seen in the Somerset Rural Life Museum at Glastonbury, leaning up against the wall of the pantry. The house is dressed as if in the 1940s with the breadboard as an heirloom. I happened upon it while being shown around Frome and its beautiful environs by Mark Pattinson, so thanks go to him!
