I was kindly given a large notice board at Sheffield Local History Library by Maggie Tyson and this is what I came up with to celebrate 180 years of Sheffield breadboard makers. The photos are 70cm across!
Janice Hendra
Janice Hendra’s watercolour of ‘Kitchen Kit’, and the board itself, which she bought in London with a knife in the 1970s. She happened upon our Table Top Museum display at the Art Worker’s Guild last month.
Michael Taylor has painted 10 still life and portrait works including his wife’s mother’s board. And counting. He says: ‘I’ve tried to give them up, heaven knows, I’ve tried. I go to BBA three times a week, and yet here I go again. Another bloody bread board’.
